What are Assist Benefits?

Our Assist Benefits include Home Assist, Trauma Assist, Medical Assist, Legal Assist and Entertainment Assist. They’re an added benefit that you get when you take out a qualifying Budget policy. Each Assist Benefit was created to be there for you when you need help, with speedy assistance in unexpected emergencies. 

How do you get Medical Assist?

When you take out Budget Third-Party, Fire and Theft, Comprehensive Vehicle Insurance, Motorcycle, 4x4, Building, or Home Contents Insurance you automatically get all of our Assist Benefits. All you need to do to use any of them is to make sure you keep our Assist line numbers handy so you can get in touch in an emergency.

What Medical Assist includes

In the unfortunate event of a medical emergency, Budget’s Medical Assist will give you access to 24-hour trained professionals and medical assistance. We provide telephonic medical advice as well as emergency care by doctors, ICU-trained nursing sisters, and paramedics.

The Medical Assist benefit will provide you access to:

• 24-hour emergency telephonic assistance. This includes everything from guided telephonic CPR to advice on aches, pains and general health and medication related queries. If you need further assistance, then we’ll refer you to your nearest medical facilities, GPs in your area, nearest medical transport, and the correct health specialists for your needs.

• Emergency response by road or air ambulance to the scene of the incident. Whether you’re in a car accident on your way to work or you have an accident while hiking in the mountains, we will send an ambulance, a rapid response vehicle or a helicopter immediately to the scene.

• Transfers by road or air to the most appropriate medical facility as you may not always be near to a hospital that specialises in your medical emergency.

• Transfers of lifesaving medication/blood.

• Companionship and/or care for stranded minors. Should your children be stranded as a result of your hospitalisation, we will make arrangements to care for your children or arrange supervised transport into the care of a trusted person.

• Repatriation of terminally ill patients if hospitalised far from home. Should you be hospitalised outside of your hometown, we can assist you in moving closer to home.

• Repatriation of mortal remains. In the unfortunate event of your death outside your hometown, we will assist your loved ones in transporting your mortal remains to your hometown.

• Access to specialised sexual assault crisis centres.

In an emergency, you can rely on transport and assistance from a nationwide network of emergency medical professionals – with just one call. You’ll never fully understand the importance of this benefit, until you need it.
