What are Assist Benefits?

Assist Benefits are added benefits that you get when you take out a qualifying Budget policy. Some benefits are automatically included and others you can add onto your policy. These benefits are there to help you get through your times of need, with speedy assistance during an emergency.

Apart from Road Assist which includes optional Breakdown Assist and included Accident Assist, you also  have access to  Home Assist, Trauma Assist, Medical Assist, Legal Assist and Entertainment Assist.

How do you get Road Assist?

When you take out a Budget policy you get access to a number of assist benefits. These benefits include from Road Assist, Home Assist, Entertainment Assist, Trauma Assist, Legal Assist and Medical Assist.

What Road Assist includes

Budget’s Road Assist includes both Breakdown Assist and Accident Assist. Breakdown Assist is an optional benefit that can be added for a small monthly fee, whereas Accident Assist is an included benefit.

Breakdown Assist includes:

• Towing your car to the nearest repairer after a mechanical or electrical breakdown. We’ll also throw in 72 hours of free storage, after towing your vehicle, to give you time to sort things out.
• Cover for the call-out fee for assistance, plus one hour of labour for a locksmith if your keys are locked in your car (yep, it happens, no need to be embarrassed).
• Cover for the call-out fee for assistance, plus one hour of labour if you have a flat tyre or battery (not everyone knows how to change a tyre, but luckily, we know who does).
• Emergency delivery of 10 litres of fuel, at no charge (for the daredevils who like to run on empty).
• Roadside and mechanic referrals (we know a guy…).
• Notification and messaging for your family or workplace contacts (don’t leave your family in the dark).
• Cover towards the cost of collecting your vehicle and returning it to your home after your repair is complete.
• If you are stuck more than 100km from your home after a breakdown, and your vehicle needs to be towed to a repairer, we will arrange and pay R500 towards courtesy transport for you and up to 6 others to one chosen destination OR hotel accommodation for yourself and up to 6 others if there is an overnight delay OR car hire for 24 hours, subject to our terms and conditions.
• The Breakdown Assist service has a maximum annual limit of three callouts per insured vehicle.

Accident Assist includes:

• Towing and storage of your car to the nearest approved panel beater or yard after you’ve had an accident.
• Advice for collision procedures (call us when you’re unsure of anything).
• There is no set limit for accident towing when using this benefit.

Accident Assist is included, whereas Breakdown Assist is an optional buy up for a small additional fee.

Should you ever find yourself in an accident or emergency, Budget’s Road Assist can help you, just call 0860 10 42 11. You can also download and print a Budget’s Road Assist disc to display on your car. We recommend cutting this out and placing it in your licence disc holder in your car for easy access in an emergency. 

Exclusions

You will be held responsible for the cost of towing and storage for your vehicle if you don’t call Road Assist after having your accident.

• You will be held responsible for the cost of towing and storage of your vehicle if you don’t call the Road Assist number after having your accident.
• If your vehicle gets towed to an unauthorised location and is stored there, your repairs will be delayed while the cost to release the vehicle will be negotiated – this might be needed if your vehicle is parked in an unauthorised parking spot. This will also be your responsibility.
