What are Assist Benefits?

Assist Benefits are an added benefit that you get when you take out a qualifying Budget policy. These benefits are there to help you out in your times of need, with speedy assistance in unexpected emergencies. Whether it’s in your home, on the road or in a medical emergency. Assist Benefits include Home Assist, Trauma Assist, Medical Assist, Legal Assist and Entertainment Assist.

How do you get Home Assist?

When you take out Budget Third-Party, Fire and Theft, Comprehensive Vehicle, Motorcycle, 4x4, Building, or Home Contents Insurance we’ll include Budget’s Assist Benefits. This benefit is automatically included with your policy, so make sure to read up about it and keep the details on hand for when the emergency strikes.

What Home Assist includes

Budget’s Home Assist is here to help you out with home-related emergencies. We’re not talking about empty snack drawers and burnt dinners! A home emergency is any sudden, unexpected event in your home that requires the immediate and/or urgent services of a professional to ensure the safety of the occupants at your home or to limit/minimise further damage to your home.

The benefit covers the cost of a call-out fee and one hour’s labour for: 

• Plumbers: This is someone who fits and repairs the pipes, fittings, and other apparatus of water supply, sanitation, or heating systems. These are the guys you call when your pipes are leaking, your drains are blocked, or you come home to a burst geyser.

• Electricians: This is someone who specialises in electrical wiring of buildings, transmission lines, stationary machines, and related equipment. They can help you out when your electricity keeps tripping, or you start getting shocked when touching the tap in your shower.

• Glaziers: This is someone who does cutting, installing, and removing glass. They’re here to help you out when your windows crack.

• Locksmiths: This is someone who works with locks on doors, windows, safes, cars, etc., as well as with security systems. When you accidentally lock yourself out of your house or your kitchen door is jammed – a locksmith is the best person to call.

You’ll also have access to our database with referrals to builders, carpet services, painters, garden services, fire damage repairers, and much more. Please note that we do not cover any costs towards these repairs and that the referral service is also excluded from your annual limit.

The Home Assist service has a maximum limit of five call-outs per household a year. But if you’ve reached your annual limit, we’ll still be able to help out – just note that the costs incurred will be at your own cost. Also remember that any costs for additional labour or material costs will also be for your own expense. Maintenance related issues are also not covered.
