Budget Insurance Response to COVID-19

We know times are tough for so many families and businesses. Everyone has been affected by the nationwide lockdown in some way and money, well, money is too tight to mention.

We also know that in times like these, you can’t afford not to be insured, which is why we’d like to let you know how we’re helping you, small businesses and our local communities over this period.

Flexible cover to the value of R32.4 million

In addition to flexible cover and premium relief, here’s what else we offer our customers:

  • Remove certain items from cover and add them back when things return to normal.
  • Use your Cash Back Bonus to pay your premium (if you’re due for payout in 3 months or less).
  • Pausing all annual increases until July 2020.
  • Reduce or remove car hire from your car insurance policy.
  • Switch to Budget Lite, our more affordable, non-comprehensive option and you can go back to full comprehensive at any time.
  • A discount of between 10% - 20% – get in touch to find out if you qualify.
  • You may be able to pause your cover.

All in all, we’ll make a plan, where we can. But keep covered. Because you can’t afford not to. Please get in touch with us if you’d like to discuss any of these options, we’re here to help.

R320 million Relief Fund

Our holding company responded to the President’s call to unite in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, with a pledge of
R320 million, in strong and continued support to the community. The focus areas for the financial contribution are multi-faceted in order to meet the very real and diverse needs over this time.

  • R50 million has been donated to the National Solidarity Fund.
  • R200 million is being used to primarily support feeding schemes in our neighbouring communities, including Diepsloot and Cosmo City.  We have teamed up with non-governmental and non-profit organisations including the Diepsloot Youth Programme, Afrika Tikkun, the Mahlasedi Foundation, the Love Trust and Laudium Disaster Management and by mid-May, over 87 000 food parcels will be delivered to the communities of Diepsloot, Cosmo City, Olievenhoutbosch and Tembisa, indirectly benefiting over 349 000 residents. 50 000 cloth face masks manufactured by The Diepsloot Foundation will also be included in the parcels.

A relief fund of up to R70 million was also put in place to assist small businesses, including those within our supply chain, and over 2 100 SMEs have been identified to receive assistance, to date.
