Comprehensive Watercraft Insurance

You get the full package when you take out Comprehensive Watercraft Insurance with us. You’re covered for accidental damage, theft, third-party damage, and third-party liability. This includes the craft itself, its machinery, motors, standard fittings, gear and equipment, and fitted accessories.

You also automatically get cover for:

Salvage charges: If you run up expenses while trying to minimise or prevent further damage or loss to your craft, we will cover the charges. 

Finding the craft: If your watercraft is stranded or sunk, we’ll cover the costs of finding it.

Repatriation: If your watercraft is disabled outside of South Africa but still within the borders and waters we cover, we’ll pay to have it returned to South Africa. 

If you and your family love to waterski, you can even choose to add waterskier liability, which covers waterskiers and third-parties for accidental death or injury.

Where we insure your watercraft

Stay with us here, ‘cos this gets a little technical. Your craft must be ashore or afloat on inland or coastal waters. This means:

Inland waters: These are non-tidal navigable waterways inland of Southern Africa, i.e., Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

Coastal waters: These are the territorial waters of Southern Africa within 20 km of the coast of Walvis Bay, Namibia, the Atlantic Seaboard, around the coastline of South Africa no further north than latitude 23 degrees south, and Mozambique in the Indian Ocean.

What Watercraft Insurance doesn’t cover

While we insure just about every standard part of your watercraft, we don’t cover any personal property or possessions on board the craft.

We only insure the craft when it’s used for domestic and pleasure purposes, which means no chartered sunset rides on your local dam if you want to remain insured.

Your watercraft must be operated by you or a competent person with your permission at all times.
